dvhs family first week is Nov. 5-9

Life for our families is often filled with time constraints, homework, and busy schedules, all leading to high levels of stress. The results of our most recent student survey confirms that stress in general is an issue and specifically stress about grades is leading many students to spend several hours a night on homework.  We believe this is not healthy for our children. So, with that in mind, DVHS will observe “Family First Week” during the week of Nov. 5 – 9.

The purpose of this week is to provide free time for our kids to be kids; the amount of homework and projects assigned (honors and AP classes are exceptions) during this week will be substantially limited.  We propose that instead of filling this free time with more activities or screen-time, use it for positive interaction with friends and family. Enjoying free time with family and friends is healthy for children (and adults, too!) and should be something we all strive to do more.  We hope you'll support this plan and join us!
