Background: The 2014-2015 school year is my second year at Dougherty Valley. Prior to working for SRVUSD, I worked for the Piedmont and Acalanes districts. I started my teaching career working in the Mt. Diablo district as an English and Leadership teacher, Public Speaking teacher/coach, and was the Activities Director. I also was a consultant for Educational Testing Service and worked on the implementation of CAHSEE.

Teaching/Educational Philosophy: I enjoy teaching and try very hard to create a comfortable, safe place for my students to learn and grow as individuals. I believe collaboration is a great teaching method and I design many of my lessons around this active learning strategy.

Personal Notes: My oldest daughter, Allie, graduated in 2014 from USC. She is now teaching in France and I look forward to visiting her in December. My daughter, Katie, is a senior at UC Davis and occasionally joins me for DVHS events. When I am not grading papers, I love to attend live theater (including opera and ballet), and I love to go to Arizona on school breaks to climb Pinnacle Peak and relax by the pool. I also enjoy hiking locally and taking spin classes.
