Comic Book Club is working with first graders at Park Elementary School in Hayward to create comic books with them.

If you are a writer or artist with short story ideas or small illustrations that you would like to share with the club, please email me (Akil Iyer) on LoopMail and we can try to coordinate how we can use your story/drawing. Additionally, if you do not have anything specific in mind yet but you would like to work with the club on your drawings and stories, please let me know via LoopMail.

Remember these must be appropriate for first graders.

We may either create a few small stories based on input from the first graders or write simpler stories that the first graders can then illustrate based on their interpretation.

If you have any questions or ideas, do not hesitate to ask or suggest through LoopMail (Akil Iyer).

Thanks for your time and attention.

Hey Wildcats! Be sure to apply to the Leadership Development Center for the American Red Cross! Absolutely NO EXPERIENCE is required, and I can personally attest to the fact that some of the people I met there have been the most genuine and inspiring people I've had the pleasure of knowing.

Learn how to save lives while getting to know new people in a positive and supportive environment :) The link to apply is below, and the application deadline has been extended to April 30th. LDC is open to all incoming freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors, and will be held from June 19th to 22nd this year at Redwood Glenn. You don't want to miss out!

On May 3, 2017, SRVUSD will be hosting two Special Education Town Halls for parents. Please join Assistant Superintendent Toni Taylor and Superintendent Rick Schmitt in this interactive opportunity to hear the vision for Special Education, as well ask questions and share your thoughts and ideas.

As we look toward the future, we are placing increased attention on Special Education in the 2017-2018 school year.  This includes shifting the Special Education Department and the new, yet to be identified, Executive Director for Special Education, under our Educational Services Division. As part of our work, we will focus on creating structures and supports that encourage building relationships and trust among all of our stakeholders.

Students are required to attend school before and after an AP test.  In order for your student’s absence during the AP test to be considered excused and marked accordingly (ACT) they must be present in the class following a morning AP exam or present in class before their afternoon AP exam. California’s compulsory education laws require children to attend school, with a limited number of specified exceptions. Under state law, a pupil who is tardy or absent for more than 30 minutes during the school day on three occasions in one school year, is considered truant. Any classes missed outside the testing time will be marked as a cut.
