Each year the district determines which schools may have space for students wishing to transfer to a different school within the district. This availability is based on the school’s capacity, the anticipated enrollment of the residents in that school’s attendance boundary, anticipated growth for the school, the capacities of specialized programs such as Special Education or GATE classes, and possible diversions of students that may need to be placed from other schools that are over capacity in the SRVUSD. Once residents and diversions have been placed, transfers are considered using the district’s Open Enrollment Policy criteria presented in Board Policy/Procedure 5116. The open enrollment transfer process (AR & BP 5116.1) is available on the district website http://www.srvusd.net

Open Enrollment transfer requests may be picked up at the student’s resident school. To be considered for the 2011-12 school year, these requests are due to the school or district office by March 15, 2011. Parents of high school students, who submit a request by the March 15 deadline, are typically notified of their transfer status toward the end of March. Middle school transfers are considered in April.
