General graduation information

Graduation is quickly approaching and we are looking forward to sharing this special night with you!

Graduation is one of the most important milestones in a student’s life. It requires decorum, sincerity, and your cooperation to make this a dignified event. Please be mindful that others will be sharing this day with you and the event will go much more smoothly if we remain considerate of this fact.

We have many activities to celebrate graduation and we encourage students to use these opportunities to celebrate their class.  All of these events are a privilege, not a right and participation in these events is contingent upon satisfactory behavior for the remainder of the school year. Students who violate school or district rules or engage in activities that disturb/disrupt the learning or event environment will receive consequences, up to and including the loss of senior events (including graduation) and/or suspension/expulsion.

Senior Check-Out:  All seniors must complete a mandatory Senior Check-Out form in order to participate in graduation activities.   Forms are available at link on the left side of this page.  Students must bring their checkout form and funds to pay for any outstanding debts to Senior Check-Out on May 31, from 1:15 p.m. - 2:15 p.m. behind the Admin building. Students whose school day ends after 4th or 5th period may check out after the 3rd period final on Friday, May 31 at 11:15 a.m. in the bookkeeper's office.  Students who have a regularly scheduled 6th period class may NOT begin check out until 1:15 p.m.  Students must also return their DVHS padlock at that time.  All students will need to make sure they have their textbooks turned in and all library fines paid prior to completing the checkout process. Please see Mrs. Thomas, our bookkeeper, if you have any financial questions.

Graduation Rehearsal:  Seniors will have lunch together on Wednesday, May 29 from 1:15 – 2:15 and graduation rehearsal begins promptly at 2:15 in the main gym.  If a student misses the rehearsal, he/she will NOT be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony.  There will be NO exceptions.

Graduation:  The graduation ceremony begins at 6:00 p.m. on May 31 in the DVHS stadium.  The gates to the stadium will open at 4:00 p.m.  Tickets are not required and are not being issued.  Graduates must check into the Main Gym by 5:00 p.m.

For Parents and Guests:

Announcing the Graduates

  • Students have selected a special staff member to read their name as they cross the stage; therefore, students will NOT be sitting in alphabetical order.
  • We are reminding students to take note of where they are sitting during rehearsal so that they can share their seat location with family and loved ones.

Photography

  • Family members and friends are encouraged to remain in their seats and enjoy the ceremony.  There will be ample opportunity to take personal photos after the ceremony.
  • Studio One Photography will be on hand to capture the perfect photo of your student with their diploma as they exit the stage.  A link to order these photos will be furnished to the graduates during their mandatory practice on Wednesday, May 29, and is also posted on the DVHS website.
