Background: I grew up in Danville, and was a third generation graduate from SRVHS. After college on the East Coast, I came home and became a second generation teacher at SRVHS. I happily taught there for 8 years in the English department. During my tenure there, I taught: English 9, 11, 12, Creative Writing and Journalism. In 2011, the librarian at DVHS was retiring and I was ready for a change, so I enrolled in grad school and applied for the job. I've been happy every day I've been in this new role and I LOVE being a Wildcat!

Teaching/Educational Philosophy: Research, reading, writing, collaboration, critical thinking - these are all educational concepts that will never go away. A library needs to be a facility that grows and changes with the times. At DVHS, we pride ourselves on having the largest, and most-frequented library in the district. We subscribe to 8 databases, which can be accessed from any of our 3 class sets of laptops, 30 iPads, and from home 24/7. That being said, we have over 23,000 books in our library! Because we believe that accessibility is key to learning, the library takes requests as well! If we don't have a title, let us know and we'll purchase it for the library or borrow it from another library in our district. Remember: "Google can bring you back 100,000 answers. A librarian can bring you back the right one." Neil Gaiman

Personal Notes: When I'm not hunkered down trying to read 50 books a year, I also enjoy traveling. I've been to 34 countries on 6 continents (I only have Africa left), with a goal of 100 countries and 7 continents. I also have been to 48 states and only need Wisconsin and Minnesota before I've hit all 50! I believe travel (literally, or figuratively through reading) is the best education in the world. I have 2 AWESOME dogs that I love to walk: Gus the dopey Basset Hound, and Yolanda, my adopted Poodle-mutt.
