BACKGROUND:

I grew up in the San Ramon Valley and left to attend college in Santa Barbara.  I have taught in Santa Barbara, Danville, Fremont, and last year I taught at an international school in Copenhagen, Denmark.  I’m very happy to be back in my hometown and to be teaching at such a special place.  In my free time, I love to read, hike, camp, jog, and travel with my husband, Adam.

TEACHING/EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY:

It is a privilege to be a teacher.  Every day my life is enhanced by the uniquely gifted students, teachers, and support staff with whom I come in contact.  Teachers have the responsibility to connect information and skills to the diverse experiences of their students and to equip them for their future directions.

Doris Lessing said, “that is what learning is. You suddenly understand something you’ve understood all your life, but in a new way.”  Learning is a life-long process that connects us to others while anchoring us to ourselves.

PERSONAL NOTES:

“Education today means that learning is not a once in a life-time venture, but instead is a process of continuous learning and re-learning as rapid change transcends each aspect of our daily lives.“
Byron Pulsifer
