BACKGROUND:
I was born and raised in Pleasanton. After graduating high school, I moved to central California to attend Cal Poly. During my time at Cal Poly I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in English, a minor in Spanish, and my Single Subject Credential in English. After completing my time as a student there, I began my teaching career. I have taught 7th grade English at Atascadero Junior High, 11th and 12th grade English at Lopez Continuation High School, and a college-level writing seminar to incoming freshmen at Cal Poly.
TEACHING/EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY:
Learning is not a passive undertaking; rather, it is an active practice. We acquire knowledge through our active participation with the world around us. What we learn shapes not only what we do, but who we are and how we interpret what we do.
PERSONAL NOTES:
“Do not ask what the world needs. Instead, ask what you need to come alive. Because what the world needs are more people who have come alive.” – Thurmond Whitman
