The DVHS Music program has almost 800 students: two Concert Bands, two Symphonic Bands, two Wind Ensembles, a Jazz Band, four Orchestras, Vocal Ensembles, Concert Choir, Chamber Singers and Treble Clef.

In the summer of 2022, Aditya Satish participated in the Golden Classical International Music Awards and was selected to perform violin solo at the Carnegie Hall

Diana Walker is a California credentialed teacher and has a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Music Education from the Biola University Conservatory of Music. In 2008, she went on to pursue her Master of Arts degree in Education.
Diana has performed in numerous vocal ensembles for the past 20 years. Recent performances include a guest appearance with the Biola Chorale for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Diana has taught vocal music for the Cypress School District and the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District in Southern California before coming to the SRVUSD in 2009. She has taught all grade levels from Pre-Kindergarten to undergraduate courses since 2006.

Paul Rhodes received a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Dominican College, where he studied cello with Margaret Rowell and conducted with Hugo Rinaldi, and the Master of Music in Cello Performance from the University of Texas at Austin as the graduate assistant to Paul Olefsky.
Paul is a member of the Oakland Symphony and, in the summer, the Carmel Bach Festival. Locally, he has worked with the symphonies of Berkeley, Marin, California, Sacramento and San Jose, as well as with the New Century Chamber Orchestra, Opera San Jose, San Jose Chamber Orchestra, and Earplay.
Outside the area he has served as Principal Cellist with the Austin Symphony during their tour of France and Germany, and has also appeared with the San Antonio Symphony, Brandywine Baroque, Orchestra of Santa Fe, Reinische Philharmonie, and the Jugend im Musik festival in Vienna, on both modern and baroque Cello.

Teri Musiel is one of four music directors at our school, and currently teaches 4 levels of band and jazz band. She started the music program here 16 years ago when the school opened and taught band, choir, orchestra, jazz, and steel drum band. The program has grown from less than 80 music students to currently over 800. The bands have traveled to Los Angeles, Hawaii, Canada, Boston, and a trip to New York with a performance in Carnegie Hall.
Ms. Musiel has been a music teacher for 26 years in the San Ramon Valley USD. She received her Bachelor’s degree and teaching credential in Music Education from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California; she also received her Master’s degree in Conducting from the American Band College in Ashland, Oregon. Ms. Musiel has played trumpet and percussion in professional and local groups including the Diablo Light Opera Company, Piedmont Light Opera, Diablo Symphony Orchestra, Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra, Contra Costa Wind Symphony, Diablo Valley College, Los Medanos Educators Band, and the Danville and San Ramon Community Bands.

Ms. Lauren Gibson

Lauren Gibson is entering her 11th year of teaching. She was previously the Instrumental Music Director at Acalanes High School for five years where she taught various music disciplines, including Concert Band, Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, Choir, and AP Music Theory. Ms. Gibson also led the pep band, musical pit ensemble, and held the role of VAPA Department Chair. Earlier, she taught K-5 music at West Mercer Elementary in Mercer Island, WA.
Ms. Gibson received her Bachelor's degrees in Music Education and Flute Performance from the University of Montana. During her time there, she achieved the role of Assistant Conductor of the Symphonic Orchestra and won the Concerto/Aria Competition. She furthered her education with a Masters of Music from the University of the Pacific, where she served as a Graduate Assistant of Bands.
Ms. Gibson is now the Area II Representative for the California Music Educators Association and also serves as Secretary for the Contra Costa County Honor Band. Residing in Concord with her rescue dog Kaia, she enjoys spin studio during her free time.
